Will it be the confident, free hitting side or the cautious, throw your wicket away one?

They're the same team. Confident big hitting and casually giving your wicket away are two sides of the same coin.

It will be the free hitting side, it's the only way they know how to play. More importantly what's the pitch going to be like, if the Edgbaston groundsman had been left to prepare an ODI pitch for a 5 match series it would be flat and a bit on the quick side, however the ICC have been preparing the pitches so expect it to be slow and turning. Expect a score of 280-300 to be a winning one. The ICC don't want to see Indian batsman having to avoid stuff flying around the chin.

One positive is that England like playing at Edgbaston it's the sides favourite ground.
