and I have to say, I have a sneaky feeling we would be closer to leaving the EU if he was in charge over the other choices in the leadership contest. He is educated, has a handle on speaking to people, a proven negotiator and had some innovative ideas to break the deadlock. Boris seems to be the polar opposite and seems to hope that Brexit just happens at any cost.
Of course October 31st could well still see it happen, but I would have more faith in Rory Stewart to pick up the pieces than Boris who will be without some key catchphrases should the withdrawal happen on the 31st.

Also, Rod Stewart. He likes a bit of politics too
A sad indictment of the current state of our politics that a p1ssed Rod Stewart would probably make a better Prime Minister than the current incumbent...in an Ian Holloway post match interview type of way.
Rory is far too grown up and sensible for the current Westminster circus. I remember during the car crash of a debate on the BBC some bloke asking whether they would cut taxes, the others all promised free money for all whilst Rory said that he wasn't going to promise tax cuts because of the need to protect public services and the Brexit uncertainty posing a risk to the economy. Said bloke singled Rory out as "talking rubbish". The country is screwed.

Public services need a government to man-up when it comes to the ‘white van man’ tax. The economy is a product of its environment and the amount of ppl outside of PAYE (or at least PAYE levels of contribution) is unsustainable.

Speaking as a self-employed sole trader, we pay tax and NI same as everybody else.

Yep, that is one of boris' catchphrases he will be without come November.
I have a feeling they will go down the route of ironically European law trumps UK law and somehow render the Benn act useless. They are too cocky to not have something up their sleeve. Or Hungary veto which I think unlikely. Or something else to bypass the Benn act.

It will happen on 31st with or without a deal.
You keep saying that but when it came to legal submissions the government acknowledged they would have to comply with the Benn Act and request the extension.

Which is all very troubling scenarios, Im not implicitly against the withdrawal from the EU, but don't like the idea of instability after the withdrawal. I think even in a No-deal situation, Rory Stewart would have been the best negotiator for getting a working relationship together with the EU and getting the country back on track, where as Boris is coming across as little more than a chancer in all honesty.
