It would be amusing having heard their owner giving it large on the PA after the game on New Year's Day.

Is this going to be another minnow takeover like Hull City or Bournemouth? Hate to sound like a football snob but it's such a waste putting money into a backwater club with a minuscule support base.

The minnows probably come cheap with less debt

For a reason, because they have no potential.

One relegation will screw Bournemouth, because they have nothing to fall back onto - you need an existing large fan base in place if you want to have any chance

Last time I checked they averaged about 7 football fans per game.

Capacity of their stadium is less than 11,500.

To gain promotion to EFL your ground has to meet set standards. It is time the Premier League did the same and set a minimum standard, especially a minimum capacity.

Or at the very least, be made to expand the capacity once you've had a season in the PL, I mean it's not like they haven't got the money to do it.

The game today means fans can be bought. Look at how many wolves or villa get every week now or man city compared to before. If you throw 100 million at a small debt free club you can achieve quicker success than buying us and settling the debt with ME and using the change.

Take a small team up and the crowds will come. Salford are probably a great example. I have no idea what their crowds are today but I'm guessing they used to play in front of 1 man and his dog. They would sell out in the championship or the prem and continue to grow

Wolves and Villa were always big clubs with big fan bases though

Salford have the CO92 factor but won get up to £20k ever, there are ceilings for clubs - you can't just make people interested. Look at MK

The only thing going for Bournemouth is that although they have a small fan base and therefore only get 10k gates, their small tight ground helps them still generate an atmosphere, you put their fans in Villa park for example and they'd struggle..

Throw in a rich owner, parachute payments, Bournemouth will still be ahead of us in 10 years, sadly..

The whole family give it the big one on Twitter.

There was a mind the gap tweet the other day. It’s a really good club though, what they are doing this year they will probably not match for a long time.

Could they expand the ground, build new stands? A quick google of their cachment area shows a population of nearly half a mill, so the potential to create a bigger fanbase is clearly there.

But isn't that the point? A club that has already run itself on a tight budget and done reasonably can do a lot with the investment. The investor isn't after what happens after they have gone (aside from if they can sell on for a profit, perhaps). It is those clubs with a bigger fanbase and infrastructure that will soon have fans hounding out the manager and ultimately the owner for not going even further with bankrolling them "back where they belong".

Hope not. Although a rival for us this season, I don't wish any club to go down the pan. We are all football supporters after all.

Certainly would rather see a Bolton scenario than a Bury one but I don't think it is even close to either at this point.

I also think Wycombe are likely to drop away from the top regardless of anything off the pitch interfering. They have the thinnest squad of the top 8 and were originally expected to struggle. Ainsworth has done a great job with them this season.

Disagree personally. Look at Eibar in La Liga - capacity of 7k and have beaten Real Madrid and Atletico at home in recent years. Love to see it.

They've held their own in La Liga for 5/6 years now - probably the closest equivalent to Bournemouth to be fair.
