Sports psychologist / passionate fan 15:15 - Feb 27 with 4009 viewswrightsrightglove

Do we know if the club has a sports psychologist regularly visit the players? There seems to be a fragile mentality within the club and when we lose a few games or go behind in a game we rarely seem to be able to recover. So much of sport is about confidence and I don't know if the club has anyone that looks into the player's psychology?

Also, what about having a carefully selected fan in the changing room before the game? Someone who could passionately explain to the players what the club means, hype them up a bit, get under their skin even? A different fan each week just to try and kick their arse a bit. Or would they just not care?

I agree with the fragile mentality bit, but I'm not sure putting a fan in the changing room is a good idea. Could backfire spectacularly, would you accept some complete novice coming into your place of work and telling you why they feel you should be performing better?

They are regular posters on here. TWTD is their Psychologist. We are who they turn to in moments of crisis. They are easy to spot. Just look out for anybody with the Gaffa as their avatar. Dead giveaway.

I know it would never happen and it probably wouldn't even be a good idea but I just think anything that might get some sort of reaction could be better than what we've got at the moment. I'm not talking someone coming in and saying they should be doing x, y or z, but more 'I've been supporting this club since…… this is what it means to my family, these are some of the sacrifices I have to make to afford to come here each week' etc. just to get them to see how much it means to people.

FFS, who shall we put in there for crying out loud, Callis wearing a Taco?

The only person I would put in there would be Eric Clacton, he'd shake them up.

It's not the worst idea I've ever read on here, but it's a fine line between giving them some extra motivation and making them feel like any old berk who pays their money gets to tell them what they should do.

If you put me in the changing room I'd thank them for their efforts, tell them to keep going, that we all want them to do well - even those of us who get vocal when they don't. And maybe that we'll forgive it going wrong so long as they are brave on the ball when the going gets tough.

The manager should be that person and if he ain't, then he is the wrong manager. Get Warnock in. He would sort this shower out.

Sorry, me again.

Over the years I have read some ridiculous stuff on this messageboard but the idea of putting a carefully selected fan in the dressing room is arguably the most stupid thing I have ever read on here.

Which is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking. Again, won't ever happen, but just a thought.

That's a touch harsh, I mean we had people who thought Roy Keane was a competent manager...

It's fine - Old Git's got it covered from his training ground bush. Roy Keane memorial bush wasn't it?

It's what makes TWTD special. A certain poster (missing in action) would have been in there like a shot if Alan Lee was still playing.

I think it's hit the golden button.

It has eclipsed ThatMuhrenCross's Gatwick parking advice.

God knows I've spouted some sh1t on here over the years but I can't get close to that.
