Has anyone been following David If he and his banning by YouTube and now Facebook?

I know he had a reputation from 30 years ago but what does anyone think about his thoughts on covid-19, 911 and anything else any one has read?

The man is dangerous, racist crackpot who's not only been peddling untruths about the covid-19 pandemic( https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-52517797) but is a big fan of the old 'it's all the Jews' conspiracy theories( https://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/icke-antisemitic-conspiracies-viewed-over-30- as well.
He's not a harmless loon, but a man(until now) using global platforms to spread dangerous disinformation and hatred and frankly anyone giving him the time of day is a fool. You wouldn't allow ISIS free run of Facebook to spout propaganda, why allow other extremists?

He is at best a crazy oddball, at worst a full on psycho.
The fact Facebook and YouTube have banned him is telling, that takes some doing.

I know some on here might not agree but it's high time that blatant misinformation was taken seriously and dealt with by the social media giants.

played Cricket with his son Jamie (who works for him), had a few one night after a game and a curry and said a few home truths..

To be fair to the lad, he had been hounded from an early age, I apologized after hearing the crap he had been put through.... funnily enough I noticed only one of the cricket team is still FB friends with him..and that's my mate Stuart Slater (no not the same one as played for us!)

He shouldn't be because no one should give him the time of day.

The fact there are a number of people who do is why we have to have a degree of censorship.

If everyone was capable of listening to what he says and go "but where is your evidence and what about A, B, C, D, E and F that very clearly fly in the face of the basics of what you are saying?" we would not need censorship. However, when there are gullible people prepared to set fire to phone masts he needs shutting down. At least if he is to have a platform it must be in a context where his ideas are properly scrutinised and challenged.

Apologies if I am wrong but when someone doesn't post for 3 months and then pops up and posts about something which has a 4 pager on the first page and another long thread a few pages back it looks a bit suspicious.

Either way, the majority think he is a dangerous hateful loon and that is because he is a dangerous hateful loon.

Not sure who is more stupid, David Icke or the people who believe him. On balance, I'll go with the latter, given that he makes quite a living from it.

He espouses daft views that very daft people lap up.

One of Jon Ronson's books contains a brilliant section about a group in Canada planning to picket a bookshop where Icke was going to giving a talk. Their concern was when he talked about lizards he actually meant Jews.

After various to-ings and fro-ings and much angst, they concluded he was just plain bonkers and actually did mean lizards.

His early views were fine. He was into animal rights and environmental issues like a lot of normal, environmentally concerned people. Was active in the Green party and seemed quite normal, even if a bit vocal. Then he went batsh*t crazy after meeting some supposed psychic who told him he had to save the Earth. Son of God my @rse! (Hope I've got that right or I'm going straight to Hell).

Batsh1t crazy indeed.

Why anyone bothers debating with his followers I'll never know. Like debating with a flat earther or a climate change denier.

Personally I just recognise some people are loons and his followers are right up there.

I suspect the Venn diagram of climate change deniers, flat earthers and Icke cultists is pretty much a complete circle. There won't be much deviation with the Brexiteer circle either, although that'll that'll be much larger.

Indeed. But some people believe any old bollo(ks. Some morons even believed the cr*p the South Yorks Police came out with to cover their role in killing innocent football fans. Others even repeated it even when it had been completely destroyed at the inquests.

And some people have long memories...

Enjoy your night.

Having read a couple of his books, what struck me most was how bad most of his history and linguistics was. Making a central point about the death of Princess Diana concerning the name of some supposed celtic goddess when the bridge is actually named after a battle in the Crimean War. Claiming that words in ancient Sumerian and modern English, because they sound similar, must have the same meaning. Things like that.

My favourite Diana conspiracy theory ws Grant Morrison's in his comic 'The Invisibles' - basically, the 'villains'(it's VERY complicated) tried to get Diana to breed with an alien to birth a 'moon child' that would rule a new dark age. But she was 'too dim to understand the symbolism' so they had her killed and used the resulting 'emotional climactic' to feed their Lovecraftian masters.

It's a LOT more complicated than that, but to explain further will make it look even madder(which in all fairness, it is).

He’s a very good speaker and has somehow amassed quite a following, however he talks complete and utter b0llocks and while I don’t agree with deplatforming the nonsense he has been spouting recently is dangerous in the current global situation.
