Reading an article singing the praises of Matt le Tissier as the greatest one-club player, I can only think of Gary Neville as a serious challenger for that crown. But who would Town's best contender be? I'm guessing one has to go back to the sixties or early seventies? (By one club, I mean one professional club, here or abroad.)

Micky Stockwell.

Albeit he played amateur football with Colchester after us. 🙂

Gerrard. I think a holiday to the states doesn't count.

Laurie Sivell maybe. His entire professional career was as a player for ITFC, though he did have a couple of loans, appearing twice for Lincoln City and once for the German Army.

In that case Marcus Stewart. I think making a name for himself at 2 clubs prior to us and then having stints at various clubs after us doesn’t count

And from a similar era Milts, additional points for his post-playing career at the club. Think it was 30 years in total.

I know they moved on, but Mills and Warky should be in the mix. Not only because of their time playing but also the long association since. It'd be very hard to argue that either don't bleed blue and white.

Or you could adhere strictly to the 1 club rule, and throw in Gerard Nash as a wildcard in recent(ish) times.

Mills's hundred+ games for Southampton would be enough to make him a club legend these days.

Not for us I know, but Trevor Brooking never played for anybody bar the Hammers did he?

Wouldn't it be great if one day we were talking about the likes of Downes like this, never going to happen for us these days.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

It's super impressive that Stockwell was pretty much ever present in his 3 years at Colchester, despite being 35 years old when he joined them. Thank god he didn't sign for the Budgies, who initially wanted him but dithered, or a legend would have been sadly tarnished.
