I think the release is always pitched for November so that there can be a re-stock between release and Christmas. Every other generation of console has been available off the shelf in time for Christmas (from my memory and experience anyway) |  |

True, and yeah it was mechanical. Although a lot of users swap out for SSDs.
I just thought it was little odd to launch with lower capacity when presumably the games are only going to get much larger. Using the PS4 cloud network for storage of games is more viable though I suppose as internet speeds have got quicker.
Don't know why I'm worrying - doesn't sound like I'll be able to get one for a while anyway. I'd like to replace our PS3 which we also use as the streaming device, as a lot of the streaming services are removing support for it. | |

The kids use it or games too, but that might be an option. I did try that nVidia Geforce online streaming service from a PC it was pretty poor. I don't know if Shield uses the same system approach, but I'd be cautious if it did.

The easiest way for it to work properly is to have it plugged in via ethernet, makes a very big difference.
But as a PC guy... well I'm going to be buying a nice new PC now that I can actually afford one. | |

Ryzen and a new RTX 3000 series? Or you waiting for AMDs announcements next month before deciding. Was tempted to wait until they announced big navi, but the price and performance of RTX 3080 just looks stellar.
I seem to have managed to get a RTX 3080 off Amazon (they took my money at least), but now showing as unavailable. Fingers crossed the order gets honoured. Not going to cry if I have to wait a while as I needed to use my amazon employee discount this week so got it for under £600. |  | | |

Nah, AMD are still someway behind nVidia on the graphics card front so it'll be a Ryzen 3800XT and a 3080.
It'll be a whole build though through Cyberpower or Pc Specialist I imagine. I can't be bothered to build them myself, cable management is a nightmare. | |

I love building the PC. Would never outsource the fun!
Just an upgrade for me though, I've got an 8700k with a decent OC which will pair well. If I was building new, I'd definitely go Ryzen, potentially I'd wait to see what the new 4000s offer, but their current gen in great value for money. Amazing considering that when I was building my PC not that long ago, they were considered miles behind Intel. They might be losing to Nvidia on the GPUs, but they are clawing back at Intel on the CPUs. | | | |
