Hawkins and Huws haven't impressed to be honest. Not much to say about it. 1-0 is OK though.

Is Huws just shot? Can't see him coming good tbh.

It's a premier league team to be fair, but need to take more control of the game, they are surrounding our forwards every time we get the ball. Then we just resort to hoofing it to Hawkins and it goes to their GK.

When was the last time Huws impressed? He's a waste to put it nicely.

Dobra is finding it a bit hard against their full-back.

Nolan disappointing too today.

But not much to compain as their line-up is quite superior to ours.

I'd agree with that. It's tough as Fulham have the quality, but those two aren't making a case for a start in the first 11.

Saw a replay of Huws' effort from 20 yards or so first half. Have to hit the target from there surely. As usual simple things like shooting from range/edge of the area we're still pretty poor at, see Dozzell last Saturday as another example (sorry Andre).

They were swarming the front 3 every time the ball went forward. Can't count the amount of times the ball was punted forward by Cornell only to be received by Areola.

Thought we competed pretty well but lacked any sort of quality when it mattered most. Shame really as we got into some decent positions but you never felt like we would score.

Good to get some minutes into a few players, time to focus on the league.

I thought first half was an interesting exercise, but we faded badly in the second. We definitely opted for a more disciplined back line and suffered from the lack of support from the fullbacks, who interestingly both had good defensive games all things considered. Neither are attacking options.

My concern was that a midfield without Downes might lack bite, but Nolan and Huws have done ok. We made good interceptions but failed to make any meaningful route forward. Both sides play patient stuff along the floor, and Fulham were extremely good at getting men behind the ball when they lose possession. Even Dozz couldn't find a ball around the corner. Edwards the only player willing to run at a man. Dobra it seems would benefit immensely from a season playing competitive football against proper blokes.

Would have liked us to take a bit more of a chance at the end, but then I really dislike Fulham. The league must be the focus, and we've put good minutes into the legs of Norwood, Hawkins. We move on.

I thought Fulham looked poor and gave the ball away far too much for a Premier League team. That said, we then often didn't keep it. Overall the possession favoured them as you would expect it to.

The only ones of our players I thought did themselves any favours were Edwards and Cornell. Good to get some pitch time into Norwood and Downes (who looked interested for sure). The defence did OK. Nothing disastrous but nothing wonderful either.

Hard to tell much from it given the gulf in quality between the two sides.

Thought Dozzell had a good first half. Back 4 played well.

I think that he may be one of those players that needs to play as many games as possible. He’s done it before at this level and he may just come good for us this year

Good player. He needs regular games and I think you'd see him star to really tick again. But others are in his spot right now in merit.

If we get an injury he can still be really important player for us. He could go on yet in that scenario to keep the shirt if he got a run.

Part of the problem last season was we have all these players of a similar standard so I think Lambert felt he could use the squad but then nobody got in a rythm.

Bear in mind that Fulham are only just a Premier League team, still bedding in and were taken apart with ease by Arsenal at the weekend. So still more of a top half Championship side, or this year's Nodge perhaps...

I thought Hawkins was a bit nondescript but Huws grew into the game and did start to impose himself on the midfield a bit for a spell in the second half. He may yet become the Skuse replacement as a terminator of the opposition's movement, never a glamorous or crowd pleasing role, but necessary.

Totally agree. Injury preseason last season was nightmare scenario for him. He's a big unit and I think he is a guy that needs to play regularly and he gets in a groove. He isn't a raw talent like guy like say Woolfy who can cruise in his pure footballing talent

Nsiala is physically strong guy who can dominate the area around him. If loses sharpness when he doesn't play. Really impressed with the way he has fought for a place back.

Whilst that is the case, he is really only in the team by default - but is taking his chance

Strong argument that, man for man, that Fulham team was better than the one to face Arsenal tbf!

New Premier team or not, we couldn't afford the cheapest player in their squad last night, yet they could buy our arguably best player for under 2-3M. Whether they are going to stay in the Prem or not they were much the better team last night and we are light years off being as good as them.
