Meritocracy in action right here.

Getting paid over triple the average wage for one weeks work. I'm sure his skills are just that critical.

Perfect man for the job.

He managed to make a ferry company without any boats millions of pounds - imagine how much he can make one that can actually provide the service.

That's just the point - the fact it actually can provide the service will mean he'll utterly feck it up.

The appointment has been approved by a Whitehall watchdog despite it raising concerns of a "perceived risk" that it may give the firm an unfair advantage

I wonder how long it took the watchdog to conclude that this did not give Hutchison Ports and advantage.

Like the bit about concerns the appointment would give them an unfair advantage. Would have thought the opposite was true.

We have been opting to put more of our ships into London Gateway instead of Felixstowe, despite the longer pilotages and all that brings.

But it's not about finding jobs for mates, oh no.

Felixstowe has been a joke of a port for nearly 2 years, but the past month has been appalling. The poor service and lack of organisation will cost some hauliers their businesses, and if things don’t change, traffic will move to London gateway, which would be catastrophic for the town, which port aside has become an ever more beautiful place to live.

Employing this clown at what is a time of crisis is an insult to the many thousands of people whose livelihoods really on the port.
