It’s a major criticism I have of Judge that he rarely keeps his position And we end up losing our shape but Lankester was just as guilty yesterday. Yes, he did play the pass of the game through to Edwards (and the flick in the box would have been great if it came off). But not sure it helps to have wide attackers dropping so deep and coming inside quite as much.

When your CBs who are making those passes are Nsiala and Wilson, you are in trouble.

We were titting around with it at the back for ling periods yesterday and Lincoln were content to sit back and watch it. As for the the Toto making all those passes, he was frustrating me no end yesterday. Holy would play it out to him and he would amble forward at a snails pace before standing stock still working out what to do with it. When he did finally make up his mind, more often than not he played it to the fee of someone who was under pressure and had no choice but to pass it right back. This would be repeated until he had run out of under pressure players and knocked it back to Holy. The most frustrating thing, was that most of thr few positive passes he made were actually quite decent.

Completely agree with this. I saw quite a few people saying the midfield three weren't doing a lot which is fair, however they also weren't really being helped. They had to come incredibly deep to collect the ball, were immediately put under pressure and then had very little choice but to pass it back to either Wilson or Nsiala, and then the cycled continued as you say until it inevitably went out to Holy. We actually looked more threatening when we just lumped it to Hawkins.

4 more passes than Lankaster? Edwards looks to have had zero successful forward passes. The team as a whole gave that impression. All sideways or backwards. Lankaster to be fair looks to have had about 4 successful forward passes. But in a game of 90 minutes when its about creating openings and chances, thats just woeful.

He played for longer but also Lankester was clearly a little rusty but showed class at times, including the throughball for Edwards that he made a mess of. Edwards is consistently the player that gives it away the most and the one that achieved the fewest forward passes in the opposition half. The majority of Edwards passes are 4 yard backward passes

You do go overboard on Edwards, but no pretending he was anything other than poor on Saturday. That said, I don't think anyone in our attacking 3 was much better than poor. Lankester was anonymous for most of the game tbh, though clearly has technical ability that he occasionally showed. Hawkins looked more like the player we expected given his pedigree, though in fairness has looked decent in other games.

I have laid off GE lately because other people need time to catch up but he was abysmal for both games this week and looking beyond the goals he has been abysmal all season and for the 2 seasons before. For some reasons we will always have some fans saying the tap ins excuse the zero contribution the rest of the time.
