I was gone at the dale Roberts bit but it makes you realise how special it is to have a group of players and probably more importantly a manager that hold the club in such regard as it’s been his life since he was 15.

Part of me doesn’t want to watch it, as it must crystallise how far we have fallen. But.........of course I’ll watch it, with hanky at the ready!
I was just about to go to bed last night when I saw the first thread about it on here. Clicked the link to check out the intro, just out of curiosity about the quality/type of film, and then before I knew it 44 minutes later I was wiping dust out of my eyes.

I think its easy to forget just how special that team was (and the Rodson teams and the Ramsey teams)
The Cobbolds and then more recently Sheepshanks played a huge part in that but so did the managers, staff, players and yes even the fans.
We punched above our wieght for so long and we got used to it
We have lost so much, we are now just an ordinary club.

Yes special mention to sheepy as well despite everything. It’s the way the games gone outside of Ipswich as well. Of course being in the championship would be better but football has become a lot more soulless over the last 20 years and combined with our ongoing decline has been a double whammy really.

Quite. It’s rare when you have something a bit different. And really special when you have something different and successful. I wonder if we’ll ever see the like again?
I kind of had a similar experience down here with the Swans the last 12 years (even same PO final score 4-2), but even though they’re now my local team it wasn’t close to being the same. Once in a generation experiences at best. I’m sure some fans never experience anything like it. We were blessed for a few decades.

Why oh why can't we ditch the fashion to make meaningless passes in your own half and play direct football? Personally I don't watch PL, I don't want to see 4 passes in your own half when it goes back to the player who made the original 5m pass sideways. This was refreshing, what a team we were, rewatch the 78 final, we were electric. FFS Lambert have a look yourself, get Burley in to help you!

We can play a much more attractive game while having much more attacking threat, especially at this level. We should be looking to do the passing game much higher up the pitch unless we are ahead.
