Got a 4 year deal at villa after one season

He's done well there

You know zero about his deal and any payoffs should a thing exist.

But well done.

You'd be stupid not to have pay offs involved.

I heard it mentioned that his new deal has some clauses, one being a win % by xmas this season which if not met could see us part company with him. Wishful thinking by someone or some truth in this?

Judging by the way we play I would think that possession stats are an important clause in the contract hence the CD-GK-CD triangle that creates danger for our goal.

I think Phil made it clear at the time that although it would be a 5 year contract - there would be a number of stipulations in there which means he would go without having to pay off the whole contract.

Xmas this year will be too late. Especially given the fixture list we have up until that point, but starting to cut away from play-offs by then.

If we stay in this league after this year we'll be in real trouble. Nae normal.

We ARE talking about an Evans deal here...

No, with 8 games to go until the end of the year, you'll probably have a team like Hull top on 46-48 points, someone in 2nd on 42-45 points, we'd surely at least manage 9 points from those games, and be on 34 points, so only 10-12 points off top 2 with half a season to go.

Get the right person in (easier said than done) and we'd be able to close that gap, but only if we're capable of beating the top 6 teams, of course.

So you know for certain that PL was offered a pay off if he were to be relieved of his duty and not just an extra 10% salary for such a thing not to exist?

It’s pure guess work on your part, nothing more.

There is a break clause in the contract. No manager worth their salt in this day and age would agree a contract that wouldn't have that in there. That's how football works now, I appreciate you haven't seen a game since the 70's but the world has changed. If we want to get shot, we'll have to pay him a portion of that contract to get rid of him.

Makes you wonder how long he'll keep bothering for doesn't it? He can't be short of a few quid, I don't see what business he has standing on a touchline in Doncaster on a Tuesday night getting rained on and making himself look like more of a nob with each passing week.

Absolutely, unfortunately always has been. I was as foolish as most and got sucked in more than most with the PR nonsense.

There's one person he's out for looking after.

Pretty sure nobody is saying they've read the small print fella, just making reasonable speculations given how these things normally work.

Relax.

Drives me quite oddly insane to see people proclaiming their opinion as fact.

Maybe I should calm down.

He’s probably rich enough to buy a better umbrella than Steve McClaren now.
