Why did this mutant strain originate from SE England? 🤔 18:14 - Dec 20 with 4557 views | Ryorry | Whilst a couple of other European countries (Denmark, which may have been down to mink? & the Netherlands) have a small number of cases, the numbers have obviously been considerably more here. Is the mutant version here down to mink too? or something else - anyone know? Whilst out walking the mutt a couple of hours ago, met neighbour who's a NHS medic who assured me that the vaccine being rolled out does also protect against this mutant strain, which is at least something. Why did this mutant strain originate solely from SE England? 🤔 on 18:17 - Dec 20 with 3386 views | positivity | i don't think anyone knows yet (or at least it's not public knowledge. mutations can happen for many reasons, but can be totally random, a more successful mutation will then reproduce more quickly

Why did this mutant strain originate from SE England? 🤔 on 18:32 - Dec 20 with 3292 views | lowhouseblue | because the mutation happened here. that simple i guess. with the dna tracking they're using they will be able to narrow it down pretty precisely to a time and place.

My bad maths , a 70% more infectable virus would push the r number to 1.7 which it is not
Why did this mutant strain originate from SE England? 🤔 on 18:44 - Dec 20 with 3210 views | StokieBlue | Mutations are random and can happen anywhere, there is no reason to compare mutations in one place to another by the number of cases. For instance, before this latest strain most of the cases in the UK and around Europe were from a strain which originated in Spain in the summer. The reason this one has taken off is simply because the mutations are beneficial. Everything is then played out via Darwinism. SB [Post edited 20 Dec 2020 18:45]

Up to 70%. The rise in CV-19 has happened with Tiers in place. It was expected R would fall. It is estimated to be between 1.2 and. 1.4, with up to 0.4 of that being attributed to the new strain. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You have literally just posted this: "Now I keep reading about this so called new strain that is meant to be according to the figures 70% more transmittable , now if that is the case why is the r number not 70 instead of around the 1" and then dismissed people who work in the field as using guess work.

Is this now being regarded as different to the Danish variant? Saying this morning that the spike is different...what are you instincts about efficacy of the vaccines in this regard?
