Having listened to some of the album on the way to work, Deep Deep Feeling is the standout. Full of textures and layers. Wouldn’t be out of place on a Radiohead album musically.

It's no "Frog Chorus".
Blots beat you to it.
Although it always amuses me that people use a song that was specifically written for a children’s film as a stick to beat McCartney with. What did people expect for a Rupert The Bear film? A Day Un The Life or Helter Skelter?

Whats wrong with the bludy frog chorus?! I always hmm that - good head music.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Plenty of McCartney's early solo stuff & work with Wings was really good, but IMO became largely dross after and including "Mull of Kintyre". However, the latter is one of the best selling UK singles of all time, so plenty of people would have disagreed with me.

Three years after Mull of kintyre he released McCArtney ii which was entirely self recorded, written and produced and has influenced everyone from Gorillaz to Mark Ronson.
Now after that he’s been very hit and miss but his stuff with Elvis Costello in the late 80’s and the Nigel Goodrich produced Chaos and Creation in the Backyard are up there with some of his best work.

In recent days I've gone back to Mark Lewisohn's definitive Beatles book, All These Years.
The detail is incredible, the first book is nearly 1000 pages and covers up until the end of 1962.....
It's the greatest story ever told for me, and can't wait for parts 2 and 3 - has inspired me to start a new thread re the 5th Beatle.....
I thought this was a great book, for the level of detail, - not so much the stuff about the Beatles themselves but just about life in Liverpool at the time. A couple of years after reading it, it's the sectarianism I remember the most, and the fact that Ringo's life was turned around by some golden-hearted geezer from Essex .

It's bloody good isn't it? What I find most impressive is the production, a lot of older artists go into the studio with a young hot producer to give them a more modern sound but Macca's done it all himself here.
It's amazing really that you have 78 year old Paul and 79 year old Bob Dylan still releasing top class original new material.

My thoughts exactly. Nearly 65 years of making music and he's pulled of an album that sounds contemporary. With no outside help.
After a couple of listens, hat are your favourites? I'm going for Find My Way, Women And Wives, Deep Deep Feeling & Slidin'.
