The biggest compliment a man can give something?

Only sparingly used for those things that really hit the spot, like a well-done piece of joinery, a pint of fine ale or just some how's yer father, there really does seem no word in the male lexicon to beat it. Or is there? And what are some superb things?

I'd have to remember the last time I had sex to say.

In fact, I'm not sure I've ever used 'superb' to describe something, such is its power.

But Partridge does say it a lot, which is maybe why I'm thinking about it.

No I don't think it is. Sensational beats it in most contexts, a sensational goal is better than a superb goal, the same goes for a bowel movement.

'I had a sensational pooh today' is definitely better than having a 'superb pooh'

And in the context of food and drink, for instance, I think 'exquisite' has the edge to too.

Superb is a pretty good compliment, but it's not a sensational one.

She's on the dark side now. But maybe if she spent 5 minutes with me in a cupboard I could convince her to vote Labour.

Naming a car 'superb' always seemed a bit fishy to me, like they are trying to distract from its real nature, much like the down market hotel chain 'Quality Hotels'

Two strong contenders there, Mr Sentence. And I must say I'm convinced by the sensational argument. Exquisite feels more like something fit for Antiques Roadshow or Glyndbourne.

Suppose it's better than 'It's a cheap VW, practically the same but not really'.

I usually follow up with a handshake and 'well done', though of course with concern around covid it's usually a fist bump now.

I think mumbling incoherently or crying tears of thanks are the ultimate compliment.

I also pass out immediately afterwards to show I really meant it.

Dunno if either of you have been in one but those Super Bs are really nice cars, roomy, comfortable and kitted out with everything.

At least the one I was in was, and at 25 grand some 12 years back it wasn't the cheapest motor either.

Skodas are decent cars now and hold their price in the 2nd hand market too.

"Superlative shag love", then downstairs for a postcoital puff or two on the e-cig .

Superb is not the correct terminology in these circumstances.

I think a compliment should always contain something which makes them doubt themselves and want to try harder next time.
