Yeah I thought the same tbh, but then sort of looked it up.
The top answers aren't always the ones to take much notice of as they're often connected with a public site where opinions are shared, rather than historical sites.
One explanation I saw says the terms are used interchangeably but I'm with you in that I've always seen it referred to as the Motherland as opposed to Germany which is of course the opposite. |  |
