Why a national relaxation of measures on 19th July is going to disproportionately effect areas of the UK in tragically different ways. We're at 84% here. [Post edited 6 Jul 2021 16:31]

Hackney's going to be a weird borough for a number of reasons, I guess. One would certainly be a lot of young people but I also wonder about the take-up amongst BAME people/religious communities given there seems to be a lot of that* going about. Or at least there was. *And by that I of course mean disinformation about the vaccine and/or an outright refusal on religious/historical grounds. [Post edited 6 Jul 2021 16:38]

Yes, looks similar here, but a bit better in surrounding postcodes. There were flyers up for a walk in vaccination at one of the GPs last week but guess people only see those if they're out. Just looked at my parents postcode in Ipswich and it looks healthier but those with both doses is still only 57%. Then again if that rate is the rate of the population and includes children then that might skew the numbers. The figures for vaccinated adults should be better in that case. Edit: No, it clearly says Percentage of over 18s.... [Post edited 6 Jul 2021 16:50]

Why are you assuming it is younger people? I’m 36 and my second vaccination was due at the end of July before I got a call last week saying there was availability now if I wanted to bring it forward. Which rather supports that: a) younger people (ie. under 30) haven’t yet been offered 2nd vaccinations b) if, and this is firmly an if as I’m not convinced this is the case, but if that availability is due to people who were booked in rejecting their vaccine, then presumably those people would have been those aged 40+ that were ahead in the queue in the first place But don’t let any of that get in the way of your made up theories

Both Suffolk, and that lot up the road, are in the top ten, upper levels of local authorities, with lowest number of new cases.

Wasn't about 2nd jabs, Have a look online there's plenty to on in large areas of the UK where there was a slow uptake and now reducing uptake on jabs by those Aged 18- 30. Locally to me, they did 3 days of walk in jabs available for those age groups, barely anyone took it up. That's not to say it wont happen, but the uptake has really slowed down. Anyways, bigger picture, as said higher up, the fact we're opening everything and saying goodbye to any restrictions is incredibly dangerous with 43% not even half protected to Covid. Unless they were part of a trial or had a pre-existing condition, next to no under-30s will have had 2 jabs yet and won't until mid/late August. Gap was reduced to 8 weeks for the over 40s about 3 weeks ago. Anyone over 18 can now have a jab at a walk-in centre, but most GPs are still working through the age groups for pre-booked appointments.

Whitty just saying that long covid is going to be a problem as the levels of covid are increasing quickly: "Since there’s a lot of Covid at the moment and the rates are going up I regret to say I think we will get a significant amount more long Covid, particularly in the younger ages where the vaccination rates are currently much lower. Fundamentally the two ways to prevent long Covid in my view are to keep Covid rates right down and make sure everyone is vaccinated so they get very mild disease and I think we really just need to push hell for leather for those two." We are certainly not doing the first of his suggestions and we aren't that close to completing the second. I've made this point a few times but people seem to only focus on deaths being an issue. Or were contacted to get their first early due to slots needing to be filled and are now coming up to having their 2nd. Does depend on the area/surgery though so won't be consistent across the board.

No idea what your first paragraph is trying to say, it doesn’t make any sense They were doing walk in jabs on a couple of days in Ipswich last week too, and seemingly had more availability than they could fill. However that’s not like for like with pre-booked vaccinations - the sessions were offered and advertised at short notice and would require changes of plans/working arrangements to attend. Hardly the same as refusing the vaccine as you seem so desperate to frame it

Not the case here in Ipswich. GP’s are contacting people to bring their 2nd dose forward, only proviso being that there is a 21 day gap (for Pfizer and Moderna), which is leading to some younger people now being offered before older people who had AZ and require 8 weeks That was hitting mid-30’s last week and practice I went to then offering family too including my 28 year old wife - so under 30’s absolutely is happening in some cases and presumably will start to see them actively being moved forwards soon
