Just tried to send him a PM about somebody mentioning him on twitter regarding covid passports at ipswich and his account has been deleted.

That's a shame, one of the best posters on here.

Thats a shame, he was a voice of reason.

I made a concerted effort to spend 99.9% of my TWTD time in the football section, and that was helpful for my mental health.

I like Stokie but he was getting increasingly wound up in several of his recent posts, hopefully a break and he'll be back.

Despite the best efforts of Phil and Gav there is an undercurrent of fractiousness and tedium about a bit too much of the board these days. IN my opinion, it would help if people could park historical grievances and ignores those they consistently disagree with and not repeat the same things all the bloody time.

I’ve always found his posts interesting and informative. He is very knowledgeable on many things, e.g. Covid, and clearly does his research.

He is a big miss for this board and I hope he returns soon.

I like stokie, seems like a good guy, but he was getting too readily dragged into unnecessary arguments on here. Sometimes it just isn't worth the effort in trying to debate with people you disagree with, even if you fundamentally object to what they are saying.

I agree with you totally, but it’s easy to get dragged into it, especially if you know you are in the right and even more so if people are abusive.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

7
Stokie gone? on 11:17 - Feb 8 with 3338 viewsN2_Blue

That is a real shame and his valuable and well researched contributions will be missed.

However i also think people need to let things go a bit or just step back and not always get involved with the argument.

If one chooses to be involved with online forums / social media etc what ever you - you are going to converse with way more people than you would ordinarily in the real world. You are not going to agree with all and you are not (unfortunately) always going to be able to change some peoples minds even if their view is factually incorrect, extreme, uneducated or just plain ridiculous.

There is a little more you can do that put your point across and back it up with fact, research and evidence, which Stokie nearly always did. But if that fails to work with people, sometimes you just have to step back from it *if* it causes you angst and frustration which i kind of got the impression it did with Stokie.

I hope after a bit of time to reflect and get away from those on here that do hit a nerve with him, that he will be back as many of us do value his input here.

Keep well SB!

Indeed, and in this example there’s still been more than a bit of deliberate provocation from 1 or 2 people in particular who know exactly what they’re doing then give it the ‘who me? What have I done?’ act when pulled up on it.

As you say, hope Stokie comes back from a break and those deliberately needling calm down a bit.

I may have missed this being mentioned already but wkj and footers have also gone. I understand we all have people that rub us up the wrong way from time to time but I enjoyed the contributions of all three. That doesn't mean seeing absolute eye to eye on things. That said, I have found that taking a break from here can help so I wish them well and hopefully they will be back at some point, enjoying posting again.

I have no idea but I don't think we should be bringing Frimley into it. I've bickered with him enough in the past and he seems to have a bit of a target on his back at the moment. I echo what Steve said, time for people to start letting grudges lie and trying to either get on with or ignore one another.

How can I be posting as CM again when the account doesn't exist, so good try making something up for no reason.

Which btw, wasn't me, I dont tend to use the general page much and haven't really exchanged any paths with footers for a fair while tbh.

Only real one really was SB himself, but when I did venture onto the general page, I liked his Covid talk, really knew his stuff and was pleasant reading.

We absolutely have different views on footy, but that's life.
