If oil companies were run by workers syndicates... 22:54 - May 3 with 521 views | BanksterDebtSlave | ...looking out for the interests of workers like themselves rather than being run by wealth extracting capitalists, would it cost more or less right now to run your car and heat your home I wonder?

If oil companies were run by workers syndicates... on 17:13 - May 4 with 376 views | BanksterDebtSlave | No takers? Surely the recent huge profits announced by oil companies rather suggests they are over charging. Now that nobody much wants Russian oil, those other sellers can surely sell it cheaper as they will be selling more of it....or is this just an explanation for why I'm not rich?

If oil companies were run by workers syndicates... on 17:28 - May 4 with 353 views | Churchman | I’ve thought about it and don’t see how it could work in practice. These are huge multi nationals. Who runs it? Who makes the decisions? What expertise do you need? How would it compete? Is there any examples of this working with companies of that scale? More questions than answers I’m afraid. In direct answer to your question, my guess is the prices would be exactly the same - but happy to be corrected as I have nothing on which to base that apart from doubts.

Yes but there's nothing to stop having experts in place running the show is there. Pay top dollar for the best person in charge, no worries. But without profits going to shareholders money could instead be invested in future projects that support renewables. At a rate of several billion a year it would benefit the country as a whole instead of individuals. I'll run it. The money can rest in my account whilst I sort out the details.

Don't fall for the narrative that people running this stuff are clever when the reality is they are more likely selfish sociopaths who are happy to benefit from decades of moving away from any functioning concept of the public good and society. I know this is probably not on the scale you are thinking of but this co operative all work for the same wage and move between departments... https://www.suma.coop/about/our-co-op/ ...I see no reason why co operatives/syndicates like this could not work with similar people across disciplines to scale up. Surely it is just a matter of will. (...and fighting vested interests)
