The best thing about that article is the interviewee listing “running water” as one of the things they like about their current home ground. Americans really are a different breed.

This is their first sustained poor run of form in several years. Not like the slow, steady decline we've suffered.

Another issue is the difficulty and expense of promotion to the top level in the US soccer system. It can't be won by playing well, but has to be bought as a franchise, for eyewatering sums of money. Getting ITFC from L1 to the Prem is actually likely to be cheaper and more straightforward.
