Shrewsbury are a decent side, with a good squad for this level. Frustrated a Derby side who had loads of possession on Tuesday night. With some real quality in Shipley and Pyke.
A win at Shrewsbury would be huge, as these are the sort of games previously I’ve thought that we would struggle in. Big physical experienced league one sides who will be aggressive.

As Tuesday illustrated, they're all tough if you aren't on your game.
Not sure there's any rational reason to fear them more than the average side in this division. They've proven pretty toothless thus far and 25% possession against Derby doesn't scream "aggressive" to me. I'd expect them to be organised, challenging to break down and look to hit us on the break. |  |

First season in a while for me where I don't actually fear any side we go up against.
For me the only team who can beat us. Is ourselves.
Those passes across the box Tuesday could be the difference in some other fixtures but I can see why KM will ask us to continue with the football at the back mentality. The rewards are great but the risks are there. |  |

They all are - there has been a notion at times from some fans this league is awful, when the reality is it is in fact very very difficult.
Think they’ve probably got as strong as squad as they’ll get, with decent L1 quality - Shipley, Pennington, Taylor Moore, Chey Dunkley, Marko Marosi, Tom Bayliss, Luke Leahy.
Some decent players there, although may struggle with goals, only really Udoh with any real quality up top. |  | | |

My view is that this league is awful. The thing that makes it difficult or easy is how much better or worse you are than the opposition. There are some sides that try and play, others that are organised and some that are just weak. Half the division is tiny clubs existing on crumbs and it showed last year.
A big difference for me is how many chances it takes to score. I don’t know Derby’s stats against Shrewsbury but if you have 75% possession you should be winning, by and large. The other factor is that even at non league level, players are fit now. In the good ole days, there was room for the fat as a barrel old pro (I saw Tony Currie at Torquay), the boozers and shirkers. In those days lower league teams died after 60 minutes. They don’t now.
Finally, evidence of how easy this league is? Wigan had a poor team and it took them no time at all to assemble one and sail through this league with ease. Bolton not that long ago had no players yet have a strong team now that could easily make top six.
All you need is a bit of organisation, a few decent players and you are good to go in this division. The fact that we’ve been in such a mess run by yawning incompetents from top to toe for years doesn’t make this league anything more than what it is in my view. |  | | |

On their day (and off our day), I think any group of 11 professional footballer will give you a tough game if you aren't right on it.
The vast majority of players we've released in the past 3 seasons ended up one or two leagues below us but it's not like we never won a game with them in our team. | |

Teams make it very difficult for you, of course it lacks a little bit of quality at times, but it certainly isn’t an awful league.
There is definitely something in conversion of chances in this division, but again boils downs to the fact this is L1 and not PL.
No side has created more chances than Town this season in L1, but our conversion rate is less than 25%. | | | |

Found this post on the Shrewsbury forum... maybe we shouldn't overestimate them.. they are expecting to lose (or at least the fans are)...

Just goes to show how some (most likely majority) of lower league fans know buugger all in reality when it comes to opposition players that they sign/play against.
