Yeah there’s a small wave of hard right MPs in safe seats but the likes of Lee Anderson, Jonathan Gullis and Tom Hunt won their seats off Labour last time so the future of the Tory party will depend on how they get on in the next election. I’m happy caring about the plight of male refugees too, or anyone who might have a claim. Even if they don’t have a genuine claim, why wouldn’t we treat fellow human beings decently while their claim is being judged? Why would anyone want people to suffer? Only sadistic a-holes would imo.
Let them claim asylum, judge their claims fairly and promptly, offer refuge to those who qualify and root out those who are trying it on. It needs a better process, but then just let the process work. There’s no need to weaponise the issue for political gain. The people who do are as morally reprehensible as the traffickers. | |
