You can see where Dyer was coming from although KM has handled him expertly , beginning to remind me of Barry Bannon ! Just whisper it we don't want to jinx him !

he's been smashed a few times as well against Port Vale and Bracknell, has shied away from it, encouraging signs.

He's not afraid to get stuck in which I love about him. Looking at him physically you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise

I'm a huge fan of Humphreys. We've seen what he can do , technically. And he looks like he could run back to back marathons.. Just have to remind ourselves, that he's just turned 19 and he's on a lengthy contract. And with our midfield options, there's no need to rush him.
I think the Vale and Bracknell games, would have provided some good learning on the physical side of things. And as much as he can stand up to all that, I'm not sure he can perform 100% in those conditions, "yet".. In the same way that someone like Morsy, can take several hits and still keep the ball and do something with it.. That's not a critisism of Humphrey's, at all. He's still, physically a kid. But he's clever, too. From my observation, he'll have quiet spells in the real physical match ups . but he'll work it out after half an hour and start finding pockets to work from. More or less avoiding the real physical hits. Which is understandable, and intelligent play. Imo. But slightly restricts him from dominating a midfield on his own terms.
Once he's beefed up a bit, it won't be such an issue, in those sort of games. That might take another season or two. And unless someone offers us silly money, he'll still be here. And he'll be a beast of a player.
Atm, though, with what we've got available as MF options. I think KM is doing the right thing, in hand picking games for him (to a degree). Or introducing him off the bench , into the right sort of games. Keeping his progress ticking over nicely. And keeping him hungry at the same time.
I would dearly like to see Humphreys stick around at Ipswich and be a big part of whatever journey we are on.

IMO, it makes Simpson's decision to reject towns offer ( whilst being severely injured and out of the game for 12 months ) even more stupid.

Here you have a manager who's developed some of the best in the world from Academies into actual first team appearances at Premier league sides, and you give that up to go to Huddersfield and potentially coming straight back to league 1 anyway.

Humphreys development should be a lesson to any of those who praised Simpson for doing what he did ( Chiwera), you've a chance to become something whilst being developed by someone who actually knows a thing or two about developing players.

a niche perspective

Not sure KM was bothered about keeping Simpson. Humphrey’s clearly a different level
