“The Tractor Boys†14:12 - Feb 1 with 7126 views | dominiciawful | Do any Town fans actually refer to us by that name or is it just the media? It feels weird to have a nickname that is almost solely used by people with no connection to the club, such as national journalists or supporters of other teams.

“The Tractor Boys” on 14:16 - Feb 1 with 4901 views | J2BLUE | I've never used it but it really doesn't bother me. I don't really call any team by their nickname. Does any fan actually do this? "Did you see the Red Devils versus the Toffees last night?". No. Just no.

Mention Town in the depths of the Amazon and there's half a chance you'd get "Ah, Tractor Boys!" in return. It cut through globally and you need that.

“The Tractor Boys” on 15:33 - Feb 1 with 4468 views | Coastalblue | I think it's great, started by us as a self deprecating nickname when we were giving much 'bigger' clubs a bloody nose. I far prefer it to something that was bestowed upon us by the media, and surely the fact it's unique is so much better than being yet another 'Blues' or 'Super Blues'? Do I ever use it in conversation? No, but do I like the fact that there's no doubt about who it refers to? Absolutely.

I agree. It's our nickname because it was fan generated. "The Superblues" as dispensed by the club and spouted by Foz on the PA sounds old and cringey. (Not sure cringey is a word - but it is now!)

I don't think this is right and I am sure I will be corrected if so but I don't think the nickname was started by us fans. It was at an away match in the late 90s I think it may have been against Birmingham where the Ipswich fans were making more noise than the home supporters but when Birmingham scored to go one up our fans went quiet as you would expect and the home fans started chanting 'no noise from the tractor boys' we then used that nick name ourselves when we got in to the PL as a form self depreciating humour. OK, willing to be corrected, but even if we adopted it as a self deprecating nickname, which it undoubtedly was during that 2001 season then the point still stands.

Talking of bins, a budgie fan I know always calls us the binners. His reason being that their fans put a Town fan in a wheelie bin after a game once. Does anybody know if that's why?

“The Tractor Boys” on 19:50 - Feb 1 with 3549 views | Stewart27 | This thread pops up quite a bit. I’m not really sure what we are but I’m not remotely arsed. Nicknames are a bit cringy and rarely used are they? The tractor boys and the super blues are both a bit rubbish. I just refer to us as Ipswich.
