They tried to but he told them "Don't stand so close to me" and then claimed he couldn't hear what they said.

It’s a very weird lyric. “Driving at 90, down those country lanes, singing to tiny dancer”

I’ve never driven at 90 mph, but I feel like people who break the speed limit generally don’t listen to Elton John while they’re doing it.

I think Suffolk Police tweeted something to the effect that it would be illegal to drive at 90 down country lanes and Ed's PR people put out a statement in which he clarified that he was talking about kmh, not mph...

I’m a few years older than Ed, but that sounds fairly normal as a teenager/early 20er growing up in Suffolk. How I didn’t end up in a field is anyones guess. I’m a good boy now though 😊

My rents moved to a village up near Ed and whenever I go back the biggest issue on the roads is people deciding to just drive in the middle, it's mad.

Can imagine people driving at 90mph to some Elton John tracks, but "Driving at 90, down those country lanes, singing to Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" doesn't really fit...

I thought in an interview he did, before it became slightly controversial topic, he kind of admitted there was some truth in it.

and I dont buy the kph excuse at all, but smart pr people :)

ultimately its just a lyric in a song.

I thought it was common knowledge that when driving at any speed over 85 mph down Suffolk country lanes you should only be listening to Gabber or very heavy jungle

That's right, and I've always just thought it indicated his keenness to get back to Suffolk.

I like the sentiments of the song, because it reminds me of all the warm memories I get whenever I drive back to Suffolk.

In a modern setting, there would have to be a following lyric about being towed to a garage after hitting a pothole.

I'd like to know on which country lanes in Suffolk he'd achieve that speed.

Most of the country lanes in Suffolk that I have driven have so many twists and blind bends you'd end up upside down in a ditch/hedge or more liklely a tree driving at anywhere near those sort of speeds.

Because its Ed, I heard the Police just sent him a message in a bottle.
