For the avoidance of being thought to ridicule righties I would suggest others read Jason Stanley’s book, How Fascism Works. It covers how those with strong feelings of social inadequacy and consequently sexual inadequacy gravitate towards something that offers them not only an explanation but a solution.
The UK does not have a 'gun culture' so they stick to tuning into fruitcake websites and convincing themselves they are an elite. Part of a small group who understand 'the truth', which is why they stand outside of social contact. Not through inadequacy, but actually through ability, the chosen ones.
Their built-up resentment (and/or stupidity) stops them from rationally thinking through this stuff. It is the power it gives them. And even when it is obvious (wee Jock McCranky, Neil Oliver, and his claim King Arthur will return to save the country) they are not prepared to have their new found wisdom trashed
