Would have said that we were certain to bring in a centre half to replace Edmundson, who just hasn't been anywhere close to squad rotation, save for a couple of surprise inclusions. With Burgess off to Asia Cup and Tuanzebe being used sparingly it's an absolute must to bring someone else in now and use them, Wolf, Tuanzebe and Edmundson through January with a view to Edmundson being moved on in the summer.
Two forwards are needed now. One in the Hirst mould that can share the work and perhaps someone very different who offers us another way of playing. A Championship Jackson would be ideal, as for all that KJ offers the squad we are now at the top end of the second tier and Ladapo, Jackson, Donacien, Aluko and maybe even Ball and Evans are players that can do a job for a game or two or make an impact but are never going to be close to the type of players needed to challenge this season, next or the one after.
Arguably a younger Morsy or Luongo is needed to. As brilliant as they are, there have been teams with real pace in the middle that have left us for dead at times.
Would love to see a CB, CF, ST and CM in and presumably Aluko, Ladapo, Evans and Donacien could be the squad casualties with Edmundson being saved by the lack of cover at the back and Jackson being retained for something different across a couple of positions. |  | | |  |

Why not ‘blood’ Baggott? On the limited occasions he has played, he’s not let anyone down. With Edmondson we have enough.
Bringing in a forward is a must. But that depends on availability. I’m not keen on has beens or Lambert-style bring in a body/‘he can do a job’ merchants as it goes against what has been a successful policy for the last two years. To take your point about where we are, next season, season after, they have to be people with promise for the future. Easier said than done.
Midfield? How about Humphreys stepping up? I’d like to see him given a chance. But I’d also like to see somebody brought in given Morsy and Luongo’s ages.
I’d keep Ladapo. Whatever his limitations, he’s a good character who knows where the goal is. I’d keep Donacien too. Useful squad player. Evans, Ball, Aluko to make room for any new arrivals?
Interesting times. I suspect McKenna, Ashton and co have had a plan for months (they’ve said as much) and will stick to it. The methodical approach the club is taking in just about everything has worked to date. I don’t see that changing just because of a few unfortunate injuries, suspensions etc. |  | | |

I take your point about a younger and more mobile version of Morsy or Luongo, but that’s going to be a massive ask to sign someone of that profile while we are in the Championship. We spent ages chasing Taylor, spent a fair chunk of money on him and he’s not a regular starter. I can see that waiting till the Summer.
Agree with our options up front. We need to replace Scarlett and have a second striker who is much closer to Hirst than Ladapo and Jackson are in terms of leading the line. I like Jackson more than some on here do, but his pace isn’t always a threat, depending on how the opposition set up. |  | | |

I don't see a CB as a priority to be honest. We've got Burgess, Woolf, Tuanzebe, and Fridge who are all good enough, then young Baggott coming through as well. We need a number 9, a versatile forward, and ideally a younger CM in the Morsy mould would be my priorities. Depending what happens with Williams, some more full back cover might be useful as well. |  |

Presumably Baggott will be off at the Asian Cup. Which is a bit of a shame in a way as the absence of Burgess would give him a bit of an opening, at least to feature on the bench and possibly get some game time. |  |

I do wonder if the club will wait for Scarlett.
Spurs want him as cover for Son, even if S Korea reach the latter stages of the Asia Cup he would return early Feb.

We 100% need a CB and at least 1 CF. We need ab experienced CB to help lead the line as it's all over the place at times and makes silly mistakes which leads to us conceding early goals and needing to score 2 goals to win. We need a proper leader back there someone experienced in seeing out games and just keeping them organised. With regards to a striker we definitely need at least one now Hirst is out and I think we need an experienced no nonsense lump up there as well as a younger pacey one. I've seen Danny Ings name mentioned as a possibility which I see as pure nonsense as his wages would be way too big for our budget but he is the type of player we need in someone with similar experience and similar style of player. Kieffer Moore on loan would be good. As for the other positions a back up for Leif would be good and a backup for Chaplin would be good too as both have looked a bit knackered recently and their performance levels have dropped a bit suggesting they could do with a little bit of a rest here and there. |  | | |
