Spent 3 months there (for work). Hated the place tbh

The old town/market area worth a wander but if you don't get off on ostentatious wealth as I don't, you'll struggle.

The old fishing boats were quite cool.

Think the area was called Deira but basically Google the gold souk and that's the older area.

£12.50 a pint and that was in 2011.

Burj khalifa fountains and possibly the viewing platform are there (pun a little bit intended)
Friday brunch and barista bar not heard of that one

Yes, look for a new employer, they obviously don't like you much to send you to Dubai in June! It's 40+ degrees.

Most stuff happens inside over summer, as others have said though, the old souk and deira in the evening is nice and should be cooler. There's the arabian tea house right there too which is a pretty little restaurant.

Paddle tennis is big there, if you're sporty, and might just about be cool enough by 8/9pm to have a lesson or similar.

Plenty of thrills and spills by night also if that's what you're into - most of the "stellar" restaurant names from London have set up there now and make for good people watching of an evening.

But seriously, next time ask them not to send you in June!

So, I went last September, was always on the bucket list and I loved it!

I'd recommend a boat trip, which you can book at Dubai marina (lunch included)

trip to Dubai mall, Burj Khalifa is within touching distance and is worth a visit, but a word of caution, it was rather hazy when I was at the viewing platform...

I did have a go on a jet ski! That was brilliant, but also rather choppy.. hitting a wave at 30 is not fun!

Finally I'd recommend doing a tour of Burj Al Arab.. called at the top, I think.. that was amazing

Safe travels

Evening trip up the Burj and then would recommend dinner at Urla which overlooks the fountains and the Burj light shows which are every 30 mins.

Take a trip down to the marina one eve and just walk through it.

A good brunch (not like we do it in the UK)is a must. We did one at the intercontinental Jumeirah and had musicians and fire breathers for company.

Have a wander through the mall. Just to experience the sheer size of it all.

I really enjoyed it there. Very expensive though. Have a great trip!

There are so many brunches, pick one for your budget and location
Indoor Ski center at Dubai Mall is well worth it also
Make sure if you go to a gold Souk you go to the old one in Diera not the new one which is pish
Desert Safari can be fun, probably not this time of year unless you do an evening one, still be horribly hot mind

Isn't Dubai basically just a massive shopping mall?

Can you literally turn up or do you need to book in advance?

Book in advance for Burj and Urla to avoid disappointment and to get a decent time slot. Sunset is the most popular time.
