The choice of words surrounding today's Tory betting scandal seems interesting:



Lots of talk of her and her husband being 'looked into' rather than being investigated.

What's the difference here? Other than, perhaps, the fact that she's set her solicitors on the press, and this is a turn of phrase less likely to get them sued?

She’s yet to be arrested, so I expect the language will change if she is. Looks as dodgy as fook (so peak Tory).
