This place is gonna be unbearable isn’t it. 21:56 - Aug 28 with 4489 viewsSwailsey

Oh well, the good feeling lasted 3 weeks, I’m proud of our fair weather fans for giving the club that long.

Tonight was awful yes. But Jesus Christ, people need to chill out.

Someone on Suffolk “embarrassed to be an Ipswich fan” - do kindly fk off.

Amazing isn't it?

Of course tonight is rubbish, but you'd think our support would be used to crap cup performances from us by now, wouldn't you?

2 years of relentless success to celebrate, and yet a tough start to the season, trying to in loads of new players, and the toys are straight out of the pram.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

I honestly think it’s so ingrained in people to jump at the negativity angle they don’t even know it.

I hope they don’t act like this in their jobs, at home, in day-to-day life. It isn’t edgy or make you a better fan to be passionately saying how crap we are. It makes you devoid of perspective.

Life has disappointments. I’d much rather be facing Fulham in the Prem on Saturday than Cheltenham having just won a shootout.

Now it just sucks the joy away.

at least the support whove been around longer than 2 seasons are used to it ;)

actually I was surprised its taken this long for the toy/pram rapid disassembly, but we were slightly more successful last season than alot I suspect expected.

but you can imagine this lot will be a barrel of laughs come May if we need to win a game to stay up on the last day of the season.

The only unbearable thing is fans like you repeatedly saying “this place is going to be unbearable”..

A few have sounded off, fair enough, it’s a football forum.

Most have seen it for what it is, a poor result from a team that have never played together.

If you don’t like the forum, there is always Twitter love.

I think it's ok for people to vent after that.

For me personally, this competition is one of the few matches I'll be able to see so I'm disappointed that's at an end now. It's also a competition that could have been very useful to us, but sometimes forget that there are 2 teams and we can't take it for granted.

I wasn't disappointed with any of the new players but it was so hard to see, it was like the floodlights were out.

Maybe this will make people realise that a win over Fulham isn't a given either, as much as we want it to be.

If you liked my post, please take the time to upvote it. It's very much appreciated.

If anything, it might weed out the dregs would who are supporting Ipswich and another "Big 6" team, so we can actually all have more opportunities for tickets. Haha

Despite what KM said, tonight was rubbish. We deserved to lose to a real team. We were a bunch of individuals. BBC stats say 79.1% possession and 20/2 shots. It makes no odds. We were kicked out. I don’t know what it is about sides lower down the pyramid, but god we’ve had some awful results in recent years.

Enough of that, it is done. it is what it is. We are struggling to form a new team. It’s no surprise. As we found three seasons ago, if you bring in a lot of players, the chances of them gelling immediately are zero. It will take time for the players to settle, to learn their jobs, their team mates strengths and to build partnerships. Did it have to be this way? Thanks to the gulf between PL and Championship, yes it did, sadly.

People have to be patient - KM and the players deserve that after a stunning couple of years. Sadly though, expectations with some are well beyond the reality of our situation and patience will be in very short supply.

No doubt the elephantbloke will be posting in the morning. He tends to bask in a bad result and he’s not alone.

Oh well, toys free prams and damp bedsheets ahoy.

Edit: I get the disappointment and frustration. I’m hacked off too. But we have to look at this in context of where we have come from and where we are - the big picture. We have good people managing this. It’ll come right.

I appreciate I sound elephant-like with this comment but, aside from Davis, Morsy, and, to an extent, Hutchinson, the players who have earned the patience are unlikely to be in the starting line up for the majority of the season.

It’s about the team, the club. All have earned our patience. In some respects the new players even more so. Half of them still don’t know where Ipswich is or who the bloke next to him is. There is a lot to do in the next two and a bit weeks.

For me, after growling at the tv it’s always about big picture and being as objective as possible (legacy from work days I suppose). I’ve been known to post emotively on here in the past and been challenged on it. I try not to - venting into the ether serves no purpose beyond the moment.

I would add there is a big difference between people who throw their feelings out there but care and people like the elephantbloke who have contempt for the club and hate it.

On a positive note: Jack Clarke. He’s going to be excellent for us, when he’s part of a functioning team.

I think there are obvious signs there are lots of good additions and upgrades: Clarke, Cajuste, Phillips all showed glimpses of quality. Townsend looks a solid back-up. O’Shea didn’t have the best of games and I’ve always had reservations about Ogbene’s end product but all in, we’ve improved the squad well imo.

Yeah. I jumped over to the Blue Monday chat group and it was far more measured and sensible. I love this place but it’s not the place to be after a loss. So many knobheads come out of the woodwork. People yiu never see post any other time.

I think so. In time I’m hoping those glimpses of quality move into performances of quality. They’re good players and I’m sure that will be the case for at worst most of them.

I actually believe Muric will prove to be a good player for us too. I’ve only seen him for real in the Fortuna game and of course the tv highlights (lowlights) of his shaky debut at Man City. He has size, presence, bravery and athleticism. He’s decisive (boy don’t we know it after Saturday) and is slightly crazy - a good thing. Reminds me a bit of a modern day Bruce Grobbellaar.
