We must be getting better defensively if the opposition need help from both the ref and our players (penalties) to score a goal.

Let’s just hope we can seal a deal on a striker this window.

Nothing to do with the ref. Both stonewallers and we need to be better.

Thought the ref had a good game.

Defensively we were excellent. O'Shea, Woolfy and Greaves have been near faultless as a three since Arsenal (a). Havertz goal their only misstep.

We look very comfortable out of possession. Morsy's decision to throw a leg at Wilson is inexplicable and it all changed from there.

Ref was one of the better ones I thought.

All three penalty decisions were correct and generally kept the game going.

Agreed, can’t argue with any of those 3 pens tbh.

We definitely feel better defensively, couldn't see how the were gonna score 2 goals from open play.
Like you say just need to stop making those silly mistakes that lead to penalties

At 1-2 up with 10 mins to go I'd say our substitutions were not the best options. We bring on teo ( IMHO) lightweight attackers, when we should be looking to see the game our with more experienced and perhaps more defensive minded players coming on.

I'm wondering if Townsend wouldn't have been a bad bench option today.

It's a very fine line I think. Arguably we're on a hiding to nothing just putting 11 players behind the ball and defending until the end, especially against a Fulham side who are very strong going into stoppage time.

One of the subs we made was 6 inches away from making it 3-1 and winning the game for us. Could have been very different. Fine margins as KMc would say.

Had he done it outside the area he could easily have got a second yellow. He has great leadership qualities but, at the same time, he doesn’t set a good example with his niggly tackles that lead to cards.
