I always associated that music with the circus and the sarcastic way it was used for the entrance of the clowns so I was never happy to see the team trotting out from the tunnel to it, those Italians in your clip might have had a glass of wine or two I reckon...
Is that one of those optical illusion phtos where there's someone directly behind him with long hair that makes it look like he's got long hair as the exposed ear seems to indicate his hair cut is similar to that which is sported by Michael Barrymore.
In fact I'd say he looks like Barrymore morphing into Mel Gibson as the fella from Lethal Weapon

When did it stop? Definitely heard it in the SBR, Ferguson and probably Duncan era.
The very last time I heard a bit of it played at Portman Road was our last season in the Premier League. That season they played the first few bars followed by a bell, followed by another tune. I would love to hear it again as the team comes out.
Anyway it's in my will, as I go through those curtains for final time it will be to Entrance of the Gladiators.

Through those curtains for the final time? Most of us former zombies have survived a few re-burials but surviving cremations is something else, respect!

Town first for me; circus tune only later therefore no associations except Town trotting out. No naffer than the noise-building blocks than announce our arrival now.

I remember it from the Division One years of the Burley era. I remember in one of my first games asking my Dad why Town were coming out to 'circus music'.
Part of me wouldn't mind seeing it come back - it's unique and certainly has a history within the club. It's just a question of what those who didn't know its provenance would make of it once it got to the "doo doo doodle oodle do do Circus..." bit.

Although for the Keane and Jewell years it would have been apt...

didnt they start segueing it with 2 Unlimiteds NoNoNoNo Limits.and I vaguely remember fanfare of the common man in there too, shame it wasnt the 8mins ELP version.
I always remember it as the "here come the clowns!!!" music, which seemed quite apt in that Premier league era

Must admit come the mid 90s I was either playing myself or arriving after kick off due to not being able to get my arse out of the pub. Pretty sure I remember Republicas 'ready to go' being used as well?
