nowhere near. Mitchell Johnson, Bob Willis and Stuart Broad (and probably others) have much better ashes records [Post edited 17 Nov 2017 19:00]

It's close to what I picked, but even Geoffrey's mum would pick Hutton over Boycott.
There's no place for Warne for me, because Jim Laker deserves to be in. 19 wickets in a match is the equivalent for a bowler of a batsman scoring triple centuries in each innings. On stats it is hard to make a case for English bowlers. Anderson would be behind Tyson and Larwood (a genuine Ashes icon) for me, and possibly Willis, too.
It's a bit silly to compare eras, as the whole uncovered pitches and heavy bats of different eras have swung the game so heavily to bat over ball to make it difficult to compare eras. Which makes Bradman all the more remarkable. Mind you, even in the 70's fielders would just watch the ball go to the boundary.
Teams of the decade or twenty years are probably fairer. |  | | |
