Slavery website 09:00 - Aug 10 with 1488 viewssolemio

I've found out that apparently this is a football website.

I had thought it was a Slavery site, concerned with the buying and selling of human beings, but now there is talk of a football match tomorrow.

It's all very muddling.

Yes, the similarities are astounding.

Im sure I have read about the huge wages slaves earned and how they had too much power over their employers.

This is a tiny hole in the slavery idea, I must agree.

I may have to omit footballers from my forthcoming tome on the subject. Ah well.

It is a slightly odd situation, in which employees are not usually the primary driver in changing their place of work and may not have a final say on whether a move takes place (e.g. transfer requests denied).

But it is considerably different in that a football player can walk away at any time, with no physical coercion permitted to keep him at a club if he doesn't want to stay.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Skilled slaves in the Roman Empire (artists, craftsmen, administrators) could earn considerable amounts of money.
