Ipswich Rivalries? on 14:20 - Aug 22 with 6832 views | LeagueOne | I don't know anyone who would consider Colchester a rival, considering it's been an ITFC retirement home for most part and aside from a couple of seasons where they were in the Championship the most contact we've had with them is gracing that dull, modern, soulless entity they call a football ground in pre-season friendly games. They also smashed Norwich 7-1 and caused the best ever yellow supporters meltdown recorded, so how can you hate that?

-10 for Col U right? It’s weird because they ‘should’ be our main rivals, but I quite like them and always want them to do well.

Ipswich Rivalries? on 14:26 - Aug 22 with 6792 views | SomethingBlue | As others have suggested, I think rivalries beyond Norwich come and go depending on circumstances/flashpoints/specifics in a league campaign etc. Sheffield United and Man City are certainly great examples from the 90s and early 2000s; can't really think of too many from the last decade or so, possibly Watford at the peak of their Boothroyd sh7thousery.

Ipswich Rivalries? on 14:26 - Aug 22 with 6792 views | PJH | Them from Norfolk are the only rivals that there ever have been and ever will be. There are a few other teams that I dislike but that has got nothing to do with them being rivals of us.

They hate us, and that one year they finished above us put a few noses out of joint so needed to be put back in their place.

Ipswich Rivalries? on 14:35 - Aug 22 with 6751 views | clive_baker | I have no feelings towards Colchester at all. I couldn't give less sh!ts about them if I tried, they're no more or less relevant to me than Forest Green Rovers in all honesty. They're a nothing club, no history, Division 4, playing in front of their half full flat pack IKEA stadium perched up next to the A12. There's nothing really notable about them, aside from the fact we've exchanged players / management in the past due to geographical proximity. It's the most 1 way 'rivalry' you'll ever see. Each to their own, but for me Norwich is the only team we play where it's about more than 3 points.

Ipswich Rivalries? on 16:18 - Aug 22 with 6559 views | GlasgowBlue | I think we have been lucky that Nowi h and us have been in the same division as each other more times than not so the rivalry has lasted years. Had Colchester been in the same division as us over a sustained period then we may have built a rivalry with them. I don't recall the Norwich/ Ipswich rivalry being a big deal during the Robson years as we always had bigger fish to fry. Although there was a big rivalry with West Ham at the time. At my school in Clacton the support was pretty much 70% Ipswich, 20% West Ham and 10% Liverpool glory hunters.

I don't agree that it was not a big rivalry in the Robson years, I think it was possibly more intense than it is now. We were by far the top dog for most of that time but they still damaged our title hopes in 1981.

My memories of Norwich games in the early 80's was that they still managed to get one over on us. Especially in the cups. Plus in the play-off campaigns in 98-99 and 99-00, they turned us over at PR. Barstewards.

If it wasn't for Jim Magilton they'd be approaching 21 years undefeated at PR. They'd probably buy themselves a commemorative watch. [Post edited 22 Aug 2018 16:44]

Yes, we won 3-1 there in the League Cup in 1980/81 when the Dutchmen took them apart but in both cup competitions they usually came out on top with the 1985 League Cup semi final being a real downer. We did of course win both legs of the Texaco Cup final in 1973.

Cambridge were rivals in the formative years, but different than the rivalry we have with Norwich today. In fact Ipswich and Norwich's relationship was pretty good back then, shared players during wartime, both played in blue and white... scary to think... I seem to remember some older supporters who watched both Ipswich and Norwich back in the old days because the home games alternated? Different generation though - crowds were mixed then anyway.
