Posting on another thread, and considering who our opponents are tomorrow, just made me consider a comparison between Hurst's seemingly ill-fated reign here and Clough's misjudged period at Leeds.

Albeit they started and were at a much high level but in both cases a manager came in with a good track record elsewhere replacing a guy who was very popular with the players, went about (as per the rumours as far as Hurst goes) tearing every part of the club apart to seemingly rebuild in his own image only to discover he'd bitten off far more than he could chew.

The players rebelled, results and performances declined alarmingly and the axe soon followed... for one at least. But, at an albeit lower level, I'm now expecting history to repeat itself.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

“Take all your team-spirit, occasional goals, clean sheets, regular draws and semi-regular wins and throw them in the biggest forking dustbin you can find, because as far as I’m concerned you never got any of them without using Nolan and Nsiala.”
