To be fair, it is plausible they had instant access to lethal weapons but not tranquilisers and it is possible that they were not sure the victim was dead. That, or they were not too keen to deal with the animals afterwards. The fact the one in the other cage presumably did not prevent them accessing where he was would point towards the latter explanation. | |
