It's quite an art to engineer a foul by running into someone's follow through. Foresteiri managed it against Nsaili.
How is that a pen? on 21:38 - Jun 12 with 5003 views | Clapham_Junction | A similar penalty was given in the Spain-South Africa game on Saturday. Met a South African fan on the way back from Nice on Sunday and she was still fuming about it.
How is that a pen? on 21:38 - Jun 12 with 5003 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Agreed. A good game of football but if there was a foul at all it was the fact the French girl went in two-footed. She didn't make any contact as she landed short of the ball. She was then caught simply by the follow through in a challenge that was in no way dangerous. Nearly as ridiculous a decision as the Nsiala red.

The fact she saw the french woman jump in caused her to pull back from playing the ball causing the incident too!

How is that a pen? on 21:52 - Jun 12 with 4931 views | christiand | Nearly as bad as when a player is penalised after making a perfectly good challenge, but their trailing leg causes the foul. How can a player possibly stop their momentum? Not sure Isaac Newton could explain that one!

Just seen it. Staggering. To the extent there was any foot over the ball- it was probably because there was a two footed jump which made her shy away from the ball and player as she tried to kick the ball. Enough of VAR- its made things worse, not better.

I don’t understand how getting rid of VAR sorts out subjective issues like as to whether it was a foul or not. All VAR does is give the ref a chance to view it. It’s still the ref’s decision. It would have been given as a foul if it had been seen clearly in real time.
How is that a pen? on 09:07 - Jun 13 with 4531 views | Johnny_Boy | On reviewing the decision, it looked like the referee was only given one camera angle - which happened to be the one that 'misses' the foot scuffing the ball.
