Just read that the have spent the 5th most money in this transfer window out of every single club in Europe, with apparently a £12 mill bid for another having been accepted today and them lining up a £20 mill bid for Maupay.

They could realistically end up spending close to £200 million this transfer window.

8) Bayern Munich (£106.2m) ...
7) Sevilla (£111.6m) ...
6) Borussia Dortmund (£114.75m) ...
5) Aston Villa (£134.11m) ...
4) Juventus (£136.35m) ...
3) Barcelona (£213.3m) ...
3) Atletico Madrid (£219.15m) ...
1) Real Madrid (£272.7m)

I can understand they needed to strengthen but that is just ridiculous.

They’ve bought about 10+ players. Have they not learnt from fu.ham last year? Certainly going for quantity of players.

Be interesting to see how they get on.

It isn't just quantity though, is it? They have spent a lot on each of them because there is quality there too. However, that sort of wholesale change takes time to mould into a team. Starting poorly may well leave them struggling to catch up and a big squad of players expecting to play may not go well for them.

I have no idea how they are going to keep half that squad happy, especially as you would consider players like Grealish being guaranteed starters

You would imagine with that spending Grealish may well not be guaranteed his place.

Didn't Bournemouth do something fairly similar when they went up (the season they bought Mings wasn't it?)? Obviously transfer fees were lower at that time. Didn't work out too badly for them either.

I think him being such a well-known "Villa lad" will save him, let-alone being their captain. I think if he's out of the team their fans will kick off

Heard that as part of a feature about them on R5l this eve. Created instant depression & feelings of being sick of football already in this household, before the season's even started!

Grealish is quite obviously a nailed-on starter

They lost a lot of players at the end of last season and at least £20m has been spent on making Hause and Mings loans permanent.
