Crucially.... “This year, with relegation costing the Club up to £9 million, any income from player sales/sell-ons has been swallowed up by the financial gap caused by the drop into League One. That said we do have funds available for a further two or three new players the manager and I would like to secure before the end of the window, to bring that bit extra to the squad and I hope that those we are targeting can be secured on terms that work for Ipswich.

I also want to ensure that, going forwards, we have funds to strengthen in January if we see gaps or injuries appear in the first half of the season.”

As always, I think he has articulated himself well and once again I’m sure this will endear him to fans and hopefully erase the need for people to sing what they sang at Burton. Obviously there is an element of spin in some of what he says but I truly believe he has the clubs best long term interest at the forefront of all of his decision making.

It's fair piece in reality, and good to hear from him.

These communications should be more frequent though and would stop a lot of the angst that builds in the fan base

No one can have any complaints with what he’s said, he does always come across well in these pieces but as you say, they should be more regular.

Fair play to him for not buckling on the QPR/Judge debacle.

Nothing we didn't already know really but it's good for him to come out and spell it out like he has done. It's good to know that he does see we need two or three more and that there is some budget available to bring them in. I understand why people are anti-ME, at the same time I can't really get too angry at someone who is trying to ensure the club is stable and sustainable for multiple years.

Confirmed what most of us assumed.

As others have echoed, these should be more often and we should some sort of actionable plan about what changes we are making to improve the club.

I must say I think he is a very good owner. I used to think the same old wish wash, spend more in the transfer market but there is so much more finance involved with a football club.

In my opinion he is a very good owner. Stays out of the limelight, a couple of updates a season (beginning and end), always backs his manager in regards to giving them time, tends to backs his manager by keeping key players, has spent heavy heavy investment in the academy which in my opinion is starting to reap rewards.

Deserves more credit.

I really want him to do an off the cuff, unscripted interview, but he seems to protect his image the whole time.

Yes, broadly agree. It covers a lot of ground and probably comes the nearest to setting out a proper strategy that he's ever managed. The problem there, of course, is that doesn't translate into a coherent approach across the club because ME still micromanages too much and we do daft things like make it harder for people to turn up on the day.

He's media savvy, he's not going to get caught out so easily.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

"Ah, so you've got £100m to spend on the club instead?"

"Well no but.."

"You've at least got a season ticket though..."

He does, but the old adage is actions speak louder than words.

I think he knows what he wants to do but doesn't have any idea how to do it well.

This is welcomed and as other have said if he did things like this more often it would help eliavate the frustrations the fans have with his ownership.

However, his actions have always spoken louder than his words, I hope we do get the 2/3 in we need to balance the squad.

Lambert has made himself look good yet again.

Evans hasn’t released this because Paul Lambert said so ffs.

Where abouts did I say ME had released this because of Lambert? He always does a statement in the first home games program notes.

However, he still only comes out on carefully managed moments.
