PL keeps going on about playing 60 odd games.
We have a maximun of 46 in the league, but could be 44 if Bury drop out.
Knocked out of the League Cup already so that is only one game for that.
Minimum of three games in the mickey mouse trophy.
Minimum of one game in the FA Cup
So the miminum games we will play, assuming Bury stay in , is 51. Meaning that for Lambo to be right we must have another 9 or so cup and or play off games.
Even if we get in the play-offs that only takes us up to 54 games meaning that we still need another six cup games to get up to his magic 60.
He is either expecting us to get in the play offs and do reasonably well in the FA and mickey mouse cups. Or maybe he thinks we are going up automatically and winning the FA cup.
Either way I think it is a bit of stretch to get to 60 games, particularly given that we are out of the league cup and notoriously crap in other cups.
Also, given his league line up I am going to say that he really isn't putting much priority on cups this year so the 60 game figure is pie in the sky. |  |

Ok fair enough. I thibk he's just talking about a rough/realistic figure all told so i dont know if he's including it or not. They did happen though so why wouldn't you include it? Long old.slog this season. Squad looks good now. | |

I think it is intersting to think about what we would have to do to get to the number of games he is talking about.
If Sunderland played 61 games last season, 46 were league games, 2 FA CUP and 1 League Cup, 3 play off games it must have been 9 games in the checkatrade trophy to get to the final.
We either have to do something similar which means final of the trophy but also being stuck in the play-offs, or still get to the final, get auto promotion and have a an FA Cup run up to the 5th Round.

He's being sensibly pragmatic and allowing for a set of circumstances that is still very much open to us. Besides, with our injury record I'd rather manage players carefully where we have the opportunity. | |
