Never a dull moment! I don't follow US politics nearly as closely as our own. Does anybody think Teflon Donald will be able to duck his way out of this or do you think he's finally running out of room for manoeuvre?
While the world was (rightly) focused on the hurricane and (absurdly) on SharpieGate, the House decided to commence real impeachment proceedings. Trump will probably be impeached by mid-December. Most investors have not factored that in. They should. https://t.co/XLXw3zwaDc

Here's a prediction:
Trump won't be impeached and he will win the 2020 election.
How's the planning for your big British Brexit Party on November 1st going?
Hope you haven't paid any non refundable deposits for anything...

Here’s a prediction:
When the effects of Brexit kick in and we all start feeling them we’ll never hear from you again.

I think it very unlikely they have strong enough grounds for a successful impeachment (which is, after all, a political process, more than a legal one).
Also, the Democrats will do well to find a candidate of sufficient quality, moderate (by US standards), not dynastically connected and tall enough to beat Trump as a sitting President. Will also require a lot of unity, hard work and money. Their best hope is if the global economic downturn bites the US as hard as other places, which will kick away the main prop upholding Trump's popularity among his wider support base (the ordinary Americans, not the White Nationalists and other headbangers).
Trump has surrounded himself with Yes men. No-one in his administration dares challenge him - those that did have all gone. Trump handles criticism very badly. Mark Sanford is about to announce his challenge for the Republican nomination so he's going to say bad things about Trump. The Democrat led committees that are discussing impeachment is getting to Trump because he can't control them. All these things are gnawing away at him and making him more paranoid. I'm starting to think that Trump will leave office not because of impeachment or Sanford but because he's heading for a mental breakdown.
Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Jim Rickards confidently predicts many things as if he is stating a fact. Not long ago he was saying Trump was definitely going to win a second term.
He still might but there's definitely seems a bumpy road ahead for Trump with plenty more twists and turns to come. Trump is still a very short price to be the 2020 Republican nomination (the best price is as short as 1/10!) although the Democrats are slight favourites now to win the US Election at around 4/5 with a lot of bookmakers. The Republicans are available currently at even money (so it's still very tight indeed).
As for Rickards. All economists make good and bad calls. He's made enough good ones for me to take him seriously, for example, he called Brexit (unlike most):
He also called the first election for Trump as well, while most commentators thought Hillary would win it. And he called it right on Macron too. So he's made some good calls against the mainstream and been proven to have better prediction models than plenty of others. However, he did say back in 2017 that Trump would never be impeached due to the composition of Congress, so he certainly seems to have changed his tune on that one.
I don't always agree with all his calls. For example, he's been very negative on BTC and that's done well while he's been advising people to stick to physical gold as a wealth preservation asset instead. BTC is very volatile though (and is too much of a wild ride for most) and for anybody who brought in at the highs they will be out of pocket as it nearly touched $20k at one point (when it went into extreme overbought territory) and is now around half that price. However, a lot of people brought in much lower (in the hundreds or lower even) and as long as they have cashed out some of their BTC holdings then they will have made some serious returns, none of which would of been possible if they had of listened to a gold bug such as Rickards.

To have a mental breakdown, there needs to be a degree of introspection. Does Trump possess any of that?
He might, however, simply descent into a morass of dysfunctionality. Or simply walk out declaring he's won, because he can't be bothered to continue.

Anything is possible. After all, he seems more interested in golf than politics and if he did walk out he could get back to playing one of his true passions (aside from women!) more often.
He clearly said he wouldn't have much time for golf once elected as President. Nonetheless, he seems to have slipped back into the old routine!

Everybody lets him cheat at golf. They have a go at him for doing so as President.
