There are quite a few away pubs up here. Some don’t like colours to be worn.

Are you staying in Sunderland?

Well behaved fans will be OK in the Ship Isis.

Is the north-east so poor you have to travel to Yorkshire to see cars?

It is. I push Seb around in a shopping trolley and tell him that’s our car. The man at Asda chased me for it. He was in a smaller shopping trolley, so we got away.

South Shields, going on metro to match. Just wondered if there was any designated pubs, or places to avoid. Like a nice pint of real ale!

Totally up your street this one mate. Keep colours under jacket and be decent and you will have no bother at all. Very friendly pub.

Its a 15 minute walk to the ground. Head to Wear bridge and follow the crowd. Ipswich fans are located in the North Stand.

Hi Newcy

I saw earlier in the week you weren't going Saturday.

I'll be sitting with family in the home end sitting on my hands!!!

Enjoy Sebs party.

BTW I like the idea about the dog training. Its something I fancy in retirement.

Then I can tell you all about Shields.

Go down Ocean Road for a decent curry.

The pubs along the seafront are lovely, Sand Dancer does good food and great beer.

If you want real ale, go see Kath in the Steamboat down by the customs house.

Marsden Grotto is always good for a visit just because of how quirky it is.

I’ll be near the Steamboat tomorrow evening when the bairn is at sea scouts and will have an hour to kill.

If you’re driving up, the A19 is normally quicker, but there are roadworks on at Testos roundabout. It’s an average speed zone but traffic flows ok.

Any questions about Shields give me a shout.

Seb’s mam has said she will take him to the party if I want to go to the football. I’ve only been home a week though. I want to spend as much time with him as possible.

The dog goes back today. He’s been nae bother.

Shields seemed really nice. My only experience of it was after the Great North Run.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Any really. They are a nice bunch up there as a whole. Just don't have your Town shirts on show and you will be fine. I will be in the Ship.

I love Shields. It’s got a lot to do for families.

I go to the gym in the new leisure centre by the beach, it also has a superb swimming pool.

The marine parks are both wonderful, the North Marine Park is having a renovation at the moment.

After being up here for 12.5 years, I definitely call it home.
