What will Shambert do today? 10:31 - Feb 22 with 3853 views | Bluefish | He will want to stay largely unchanged after a positive blip last week but the starting line up looked shaky with the non footballer at right wing back. The switch to 4-4-2 and then 4-3-3 brought benefits but it isn't easy to do with our players and means another change. If he is going 4 at the back then it has to be Donacien and if he is going with a 5 with Edwards then Chambers has to be next to him to cover. 4 at the back means judge out wide but 1 up top means lumping to Jackson or lumping to a wandering Keane. Big decisions, we've had lots of must win but this is the biggest of the lot. Lose today and it is game over

What will Shambert do today? on 10:41 - Feb 22 with 2792 views | Pecker | Think we will start 4-3-3 and revert to 4-4-2 when they get to much possession in midfield. Nothing to worry about though. Slightly optimistic about keeping a clean sheet, but a win is a must and I think they will do it. We are at home and these home games need to be won to have any chance of top 6.

4-3-3 has to be JD at full back and then do we go with Earl at lb? Downes and Nolan with judge in front then Garbutt left sided forward???? Jackson as right sided and then Keane as the focal point that wanders? It looks a mess to me, lots of makeshift positions and a target man that isn't a target man and likes to pop up everywhere else We just don't have the personnel for 433

That doesn't sound terrible, only really missing a target man but then how long has that been the case now? As long as we keep it on the deck (I know...) that isn't a bad option if we're on top.

What will Shambert do today? on 10:48 - Feb 22 with 2749 views | thebooks | 3-5-2 again, I reckon. Would hope Edwards/Woolfenden have sorted out how to defend against a wide left attacker with a supporting full back as Burton were murdering us for the first 15m or so last week. I'd prefer Donacien myself, but it’ll be Edwards. I’d put Chambers on the right of the 3 if needs be, but then you lose Wolfenden going forward. I think we’ll win 3-1. Our run-in is easy — would do wonders for our confidence if we did win, but not absolutely vital.

The slim automatic chance is surely done and it is a hefty blow to the play off chance. A bit like last season these things aren't mathematically impossible but you need the faith that the manager can string results together every week.

Agree, but this is Lambert we are talking about. He may start 5-4-1 with the fear of losing, but I hope not. Go toe to toe with them as I do not think they are as good as some make out. I may be saying totally the opposite come 5pm of course.

So 5 points off the top with 36 more points available constitutes “a slim chance” ? Just the sort of positivity we need. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You do understand that other teams having more points available to collect has an impact on that don't you? You also understand that having to gain 5 points on multiple teams has an impact too? We are massively outsiders to close that gap and lose today it could become a write off

My worry is that in the past we have just resorted to long ball opposed to toe to toe in this scenario. It is why we have struggled to take many points off the top sides

On paper, I would only chose Peterborough's squad above ours, so yes, go toe to toe with them and may the best team win. (us obviously)

He seems to have lost his touch at PR as well nowadays so probably not right for him anymore. His previous 2 clubs both knew him as Shambert as well so it is probably the most fitting

They still have to win those fixtures, tho. A third of our remaining games are at home against bottom-half teams. While Portsmouth (35.7%) and Peterborough (45.5%) may have it even better, the others do not. Sunderland (23.1%), Wycombe (16.7%), Rotherham (15.4%), Coventry (7.1%). Four of Rotherham's remaining 13 matches are against other teams currently in the top six.

We will add it into the rotation policy. Well until Evans and Chambers tell us off that is and then we will just keep using the same name every week

i always thought 433 allowed more possession in midfield as the 3 play fairly central and dominate the other sides 2. With the two wide men upfront making angles so that they become midfielders / forwards. Just my view. I guess you need liverpool's front 6 to make that work well.

No doubt about it, 352. OP reckons we were “shakey”. Funny given we could have had 6 before half time. Same side, same system.
