I could have seen the logic in making the decision in October, but there was absolutely no need to do it in January - the warning signs were already there. And we're now in a position where the only financially viable time to sack Lambert is at the end of the year, presumably when the first break clause comes into place. By which time we'll be condemned to another season in this b@stard league, another year of lost funding. And the task will be much harder next season with sides such as Stoke and Middlesbrough possibly joining us, and Downes, Woolfenden and Garbutt leaving. This January has echoes of 2015 - it's a wasted month in a crucial year. Instead of spending money on a new contract, Evans should have got rid of Lambert and given someone else a go with a couple of new players. I wouldn't have wanted a big financial oulay, just something to freshen us up a bit. Even being in the play offs is a distant memory now. Such a waste.
