The one to the left is Andy Nelson, Centre Half during the Div 1 winning season. The other is Jimmy Forsyth - he of the magic sponge.

thank you

I assume that's taken on the old training pitch at PR?

Nelson doesn't look like someone you'd pick an argument with!!

I never knew Jimmy Hill played for us?

The bloke on his left is the drinks server out of 'The Shining'. Am I right?

Having retired from football he won a Spanish Bowls Championship in 1995.

Yes, unlike some on here, they did not get bored with me telling them that I was there when ITFC won the title.

That's good.

He did ok at Charlton at first, but like so many it didn't last although I remember having a few beers too many with Andy in a pub in Greenwich one night (Ashburnham pub if my memory is still good) maybe that didn't help him

No main pitch, no floodlights on practice pitch

The practice pitch did have floodlights. In the fifties at Grammar school in Bury the sports master used to give you one of his magazines if you did well and the Ipswich floodlights were part of an advertisement.

In those days, under the Cobbolds we were a forward looking club and the floodlights were a money spinner. As you came out of the old West Stand the wooden pillars were very prominent.
