Seems' to be dragging on, any idea if it's still happening?

WBA are hoping to appoint the Barnsley manager (he's now their top target and willing to pay the £2m to get him), so I suspect once that goes through, the Harper deal will get announced.

I think it was said when new of the proposed deal first broke, that the new manager would need to sign off any deal. That of course means their is the possibilty that he may well block the transfer.

Indeed, that still seems to be the situation. Not quite sure why they've tied one announcement to the other. Must be frustrating for the player waiting for two weeks for the announcement. His medical was a fortnight ago on Saturday, I think.

No, that's not the case. The deal is done just not confirmed.

But surely a new manager will want to at least look at a highly rated youngster on his books? Why would he agree to letting him go before he's even seen him train? Clean slate and all that.

RIP Sir Bobby

Silly question i guess, but why would the deal need approving by the new manager if it's already done and dusted?

If the manager sees promise in him, why would he let him go and develop at another team...

... because West Brom will have bigger targets in mind to get them back to the Prem?

Everything's been signed, both sides, so even if the new manager likes him, there's nothing he can do, unless he fancies buying him from us.

If you sign for another Club then the deal is done, if the Manager has to then agree to this then the deal isn't done, is it?

I've never heard such a thing..

Lots of deals have been called off at the last minute, but the last minute being nothing has been signed. It would take WBA a fee to bring him back now.

Brom is a sht show at the moment

No manager
Lost their sporting director

Owner seems to be like Evans. Pops up when asking for money. Fans are not happy.

God knows who town would be dealing with as no one knows who does what at brom

Any manager would do well to heed the advice Fergie used to give to young managers, pick the owners, not the club.

It doesn't need approving by the new manager. For reasons best known to them they want one announcement to follow the other. Think all other parties are very frustrated with them.

I think the fact they are late selling ST's and the fans really arent happy at the moment the last thing they want to do is start showing players leaving with none going in.

This,if he is our player all signed up etc., we do not permission from the seller to announce

Indeed, my thinking was that they wanted to bury the bad news of a young player being sold when they were announcing Wagner. Despite that breaking down and the news being out there they still seem to want to work to the same schedule.

The Barnsley manager allegedly interested in signing Flynn Downes?

You must be right but that doesn't seem to make sense.

We've bought him. Signed, sealed...although not yet delivered.

But we can't have him until an incoming manager confirms/signs off the transfer.

But the incoming manager has no say in weather he keeps him or not as the deal is done.

So the incoming manager's confirmation of the deal is totally irrelevent.

Butw we can't have him until he gives it?

Sounds like a load of squirrelly, fudged, backroom nonsense.

Don't think it is anything to do with any of that, both Chris and Phil mentioned it was more to do with not having bad news around ST sales time when they have no manager in place and a sporting director handing his notice in.

Sorry, but if he's our player (as it certainly seems) we should be able to unveil him. Don't give a damn about WBA, or their situation with season ticket sales, lack of a manager and sporting director.
