Seems to be a theory going around here that a team needing ‘time to gel’ requires playing them together all the time at all cost, even if it means forgoing the chance to blood young/newly signed players and risking injuries in the smaller cups.
Don’t think it works like that. Not sure you can accelerate the process by much by squeezing in a first XI lineup for the carabao and don’t think you will see a net benefit to the squad when offset against the other advantages to rotation mentioned above.
Time to gel means just that to me - time! And we’re still literally in the process of signing players at the moment.
