"The six-figure sum the club has just spent on upgrading an antiquated IT system would have ranked in the top-three of transfer fees spent by Mick McCarthy over a six-year period

Amazing really. Piece above taken from Watson EADT piece.

Whilst Evans’ lack of spending was a huge source of frustrations, his lack of speaking for the majority of his tenure, his inability to have a proper backroom team to run things, most of his managerial appointments and taking too long to sack them, his seemingly lack of care for the stadium and his all round lack of vision for our club (replacing Murphy for 3m with Leon Best for free was such short-termism) were far far more prevalent issues that meant he really had to go if we had any chance of not dying a slow death as a football club.

Not sure I remember him ever spending much on infrastucture even in the early years when he was spending plenty on the squad.

really ?

none of us know the true figures

much as we were constantly told that he was 'pumping in money(310m a week) yet the evidence is almost weekly emerging that so much was not spent.... neglected

so where was this 'largesse' going ?

painting the turnstiles ?

a small shrubbery on the roof ?

over staffing the bars ?

high tech, all weather pitch ?

The accounts are published. It is quite clear what was put in.

You are aware, are you not, that professional footballers are paid large sums of money?

The same man who was killing the club in the long term was, in the short term, financially saving the club.

It's just a shame we pretty much had to be relegated to become a buyable project

Yet remarkably some continue to defend Evans. Why is beyond me. To be fair, he was the king of spin and sadly many were sucked in.

In the same way parents who starve a child are still offering it a home. We weren’t far off being in an an abusive relationship. 13 years of decline and a spiral of neglect leading to ever increasing debt, and worse leading to what we saw on the pitch. BUT we do have to be thankful he wrote the debt off. I’m struggling to think of another positive though.

And at least we now have proof that ‘other owners are available’, which counters one of the most bizarre claims of ME being out only choice.

Not exactly , wasn’t interest on the debt included in the amount spent, interest on a debt owed to ME group, would imagine interest on £100m is fairly significant…

I haven’t looked at the clubs accounts since the Sheepshanks bankruptcy years, so a question for those that have. The debt for the stadium rebuild was £30m. Norwich Union (Aviva) settled for £6m in the end I believe. I heard it was written into Evans’ accounts as £30m and interest subsequently charged to himself. Is this nonsense?

What I do no is that you can do an awful lot with Accounts, which is why Accountants are well paid.

The truth is out there! Regardless people are right. Time to move on from those hateful years of slow death, Evans style. I wish he’d never come near here but what is done is done.

I was interested to hear that the club has invested in new IT - and rightly so. I was also interested in Ashton’s comments about sequencing (awful Brentish term) in respect of the PA system. The work to be done at the club must be very interesting to plan and something I’d love to have been involved in had I been 10 years younger, in the right place and working there!
