Can some of you gamers give an old man some advice please?
Looking at getting an XBox Series S for the family - mainly kids (10 & 15). With the XBox Game Pass Ultimate I understand it to be a netflix of games with around 100 playabe titles at any one time with option to purchase/download other games that you may want... is that correct?
Also with the XBox is can only be played on the TV where connected and not portable like the Nintendo Switch? (This could cause issues if situated in living room on main TV).
Does everyone in family need a Game Pass Ultimate subscription or can you just create profiles for family members?
You're right - the pass let's you download any of those games - my boys got it. The only thing is it won't include the latest releases of stuff like fifa or it didn't last time I checked. Loads of good games on there though. Also bare in mind some games like Fortnite or rocket league are free to play in any case (they want to make money by selling your kids digital tat in game).
You do need to link it to a telly or screen. One pass per xbox I think, but not totally sure as I only have 1 kid.
Worth it overall I'd say.
Edit: one other thing I'm not totally sure of is you may need at least one of these passes for your kids to play others online (maybe not the ultimate.ate one but definitely something)

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa
You're right - xbox game pass is effectively a Netflix of games. There's loads of games on there which you can download and play. It costs around £11 a month and titles are constantly updated including several brand new release games. They've also recently introduced cloud gaming which (if your internet is good enough) means you don't even have to download games to play anymore - you can effectively stream them. It's still fairly early days on that though so I'd always recommend downloading for best quality.
Xbox isn't like the switch - it has to be plugged into a TV via HDMI to play. Switch has it's own screen and a "port" in which it sits to connect to the TV.
One Game Pass subscription should be enough. You can then download multiplayer games and both your kids should be able to play online together. For example I believe FIFA allows multiplayer you just add multiple accounts onto one console and then play under one subscription.
Personally I think it's really good value for money. The selection of games available is really good and they're constantly releasing new games. I wish it had existed when I was your kids age! Have fun and let me know if you have any other questions!

Only note of caution is that if you cancel your subscription, then you lose the access to the games. So long as you are happy to keep on paying each month then you'll be fine.
Overall they are definitely worth the money if you want to play lots of different games and online.
Examine the price difference between an 'X' and the 'S' -
I have an older Xbox One with a drive for old school discs, which means I can go to CEX and pick up a game for nothing, where as my daughter and son both make me pay a lot more for the same game for their 'S' as it has no disc slot.
